Hi, I started the Paul McKenna Diet and want to keep track of how it goes. I have about 20 pounds to lose. Those last 10 are always the point where I throw in the towel.

Very excited to test out the new finger squeezing exercise motivation technique. I have a podometer that I am going to wear when I get to work. Im curious to see how many steps I take in a day and to see how much I can improve on my daily step count. I feel without exercise I am losing no weight and am kind of disgusted by that. I need to get in shape so badly. I just don't have the motivation to get started.

Im so disapointed in myself right now. It started with doing really great yesterday. 3rd date night since I have been on this program. Each date night has become easier. I got full pretty quick and had the rest of my meal wrapped up. Then came home layed in bed and nade myself some cheese and crackers which I ate in bed while watching TV. Then if that wasnt enough of a no no, I went to the freezer and got a friendlies icecream sunday with peanut butter sauce and chocolate syrup and peanut butter cups. Ate that in bed as well. And on top of all that I didnt do the c25K walking yesterday. So, needless to say, it wasnt a good day for me and the program. But today is another day and hopefully I can pick up where I left off.

Congrats Lorraine! Good luck on restarting the C25K program.

And yes, being on McKenna's has also made me aware of how often I've been eating out. I'm trying to cut back on that myself.

I plan on starting the c25k over from the begining as I never made it to day 3 because Of a very bad tooth ache and just plain laziness, The toothache is very helpful with the whole eating slow method. So thats been helpful. Cant wait for next weeks episode about speeding up your metabolism. I was very disapointed in the last 2 episodes with the finger squeezing and tapping stuff. All in all, I am still doing well and constantly thinking when I eat.

Ok, so I managed to do Day 2 on the c25k. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Thank you Stitch and Mike for your support. I have still been sticking to McKenna;s Golden Rules and have learned one thing about myself through this. I really eat out a lot!! My goal for this upcoming week is going to be to try to eat at home more. It is so much easier to follow the rules in the privacy of your own home. Last night we were out at a friends and at 1 in the morning we ordered a pizza. I ate my 2 slices pretty slow but still would have been able to concentrate more if I was eating at home. I still havent gotten on the scale yet.

Hey Lorraine, sounds great that you are doing the C25K. I need to just get out and start walking (I'm carrying to much weight to even try running still, but I need to get off my butt and move more ;). Great on the date night and on not diving into the Gyro when it came home. Keep it up!!!

Hi, I saw you on one of the forums.

Just wanted to let you know about the Couch to 5k program. I'm currently doing it as well, i'm at the end of the third week. There are couch to 5 k forums on here too, just when you see something like C25K week 3 or whatever you can post on it and get motivation and give some to others :)

It's quite a great workout :D

Good luck with your training, and never give up! Do it for fun and dont think of it as a chore! :)

Oops, missed a day of logging on and commenting on my progress. yesterday was Date night again and I did pretty well. I only ate half of my portabella sandwich with a few sweet potato fries. I still can't seem to get that feeling of being full. When I fifnish eating it's because I "think" Im full. Then like 20 minutes later, I actually feel full. Work is tough. I had a cookie on the run. One bonus though was I began the c25K thing. It wasn't too bad although my legs are pretty sore today. Im doing day 2 tommorrow no matter what. And heres a pretty bi accomplishment. Hubby just brought home a yumme huge Greek Gyro. He woofed his down in record time and mine is in the fridge cause I'm not hungry just yet. As we all know, none of us would ever not dig into a gyro the moment it arrived!!! Im so proud. Still not proud enough to weigh myself though.

Easter dinner was fine. I ate slowly but definetly ate more there than I would have here at my house. then last night while laying in bed, I got hungry again, tried my best to fight the feeling but couldn't so I got out of bed and made a plate of food and ate it at the table. I kind of felt bad about doing that so late in the evening.

Back to work again today after a week off. It's not so easy at work to follow this program. The number 1 rule, eat when you are hungry is very difficult. I'm a teacher and I got hungry at around 10 am. My lunch is at 11:30. There is no possible way to eat at 10 am when I was hungry.

Last night was tough. We went to a party. The kind of party where there are a lot of beers and a lot of snacks. Really good snacks like potato skins, pizza rolls, wings, chips etc. No where to sit, no utensils. All yummy finger type foods that you would "normally" just shove in your mouth and eat. I watched the people around me glomming these snacks into their mouth and it all looked so odd. I "had" to have a potao skin even though I knew I wasn't officially hungry. I took one took half a bite, chewed and chewed and then ate the other half. It felt like all eyes were on me but really they weren't. I repeated this process a few times with the other snacksas well, never really ever able to concentrate on whether I was full or not. Normally I at a party like this I would eat those snacks until I couldn't breath anymore so I was kind of proud of myself but at the same time I felt guilty for eating when I wasn't "officially" hungry. I guess McKenna would call it emotional hunger. I hope he goes a little bit more into strategies we can use at parties.
Today is easter. Not too concerned. I'll be going to my inlaws for a nice sitdown ham dinner. I'll tell them all about my new way of eating and they'll be fine with it.

Saturday:
For breakfast I ahd a bowl of cerial. I was hungry but really didnt feel like eating so I only finished half the bowl. Then for lunch I made a sandwich which I ate slowly and finished the whole thing. I'm concentrating on that "full" feeling. After eating the sandwich, I didnt really feel full, but know I don't need to eat anything else because it satisfied me.

went out to eat agin. (Nothing like being on vacation) Did well at the spanish restaurant. Only had a quarter of my steak, about 3 plantains and a few fork fuls of shrimp. Also had 1 shrimp and 1 small meat patty and some chips. It could have been worse but I beginning to know what it feels like to be full and havent stuffed and gorged myself since I started this program.

Well today is Friday and my last day off from work. I have been doing well so far but a major reason why is because I am not working. At work I do alot of snacking. Theres always munchkins or cookies somewhere and I am forever grabbing one or two on the run. We'll see what Monday brings. Atleast I'll have a week of this under my belt which should hopefully work when I get back to work. Yesterday I hardly ate anything. I had a half of an egg salead sandwich for breakfast/lunch and then for dinner I had the leftovers from the seafood place which really was hardly anything because my son got to it before I did. Then we went out to a brewery for karaoke. I had 3 pints of beer and didnt snack when I got home which I normally would after a night out. Its 9 am now and I am feeling pretty hungry so I should probably eat something.

Today went well again. I had a Hot Pocket for lunch. Ate it slow, but didnt sit at the kitchen table. I sat at my computer but didnt really do anything on the computer. For dinner we went out to eat agin, this time to a seafood place. I am without a doubt eating a lot less and noticing the tastes of everything I put in my mouth. Food tastes better for sure.

Sounds like you had a great and successful night last night! Thats fantastic on the amount of food and how you weren't even interested in the buffet! Yes, beverages isn't something mentioned and I've been wondering about that myself. May look to see if this is mentioned in the youtube or videos on mckenna.com. But congrats on the evening and doing well! You should definetly be proud of yourself :)

Last night went well. I ordered the shrimp beardlsy. Its a bowl filled with pasta, shrimp, spinach and mushrooms in a butter and garlic sauce. My husband ordered a steak. He was done with his steak fries and vegetables before I had even finished a quarter of my meal. I was full at this poit and had my meal wrapped up. Afterward we went to karaoke where they have a full buffet for free. Normally I would eat again from the buffet but it didnt even appeal to me. I did however drink 3 glasses of wine and 2 beers. I wish he would touch on that topic a bit more in the upcoming episodes. All in all, I was very proud of myself.

Its 300 pm and I just had lunch. I made half an egg salad sandwich and an easy mac and cheese. I was hungry! The egg salad sandwich was the best I ever had. I ate it slowly and enjoyed every bite. The easy mac and cheese was difficult to eat slow. It kind of slides down your throat but I did the best i could. In the beginning had a tough time realizing if I was full or not but then it just came to me and I felt full. I only had half the mac and cheese which is pretty funny.

Thanks Mike for your support in this. I enjoy reading your entries and glad you started this forum. I'll let you know how tonite goes.

Good job Lorraine! Keep at it. Thats what I found yesterday after having potato chips at lunch. They actually tasted good as I ate them, but afterwards (for a good hour) I could only taste the grease in my mouth. I have always loved good potato chips, but right now, I'm not sure how interested I am in eating any after yesterday due to the taste. I do feel by using this method we are becoming much more aware of what we are eating and the tastes and all.

As for tonight, try to be aware, but enjoy your time on your date also. I went out last night and while I didn't follow the rules completely, I did eat much slower than normal (and made sure I put my fork down while I chewed). My son (he's 13) even asked me if I didn't like my food as he noticed I kept putting my fork down :) Good news is I only ate half my meal, where normally I scarf down everything, so I felt very good about that.

OK. Its 11 am and I made myself 2 chocolate chip waffles. (the frozen kind) I poured the syrup on, sat doen, cut into one, put in mouth, placed fork down and began chewing. Slowly this continued. About half way through the first waffle, I noticed that it didn't even taste good and after finishing the first one and a couple of bites of the second one, I felt full and sort of disgusted. Threw the remains of the second one away. weird how it just didn't taste good.

Day 2- Well last night I went to bed around 10 pm. Normally I would have some icecream in bed or chips or candy while watching my shows on TiVO, but not last night. The thought of getting out of bed to sit at the table to eat some snacks just didnt appeal to me so I watched my shows without eating and honestly I wasn't even hungry. Tonite will be a challenge as Tuesdays are our date night and we go out to eat every Tueday at our favorite restaurant. I know the bartender and the other patrons will notice that I am "savoring" my food. Should be interesting.

Day 1 and I am trying the Paul McKenna approach to dieting. Lets see if it works. Supposed to eat whatever you want but eat it consciously. I had breakfast and lunch while sitting at the table for the first time in a long time. Bagel with egg, chees and bacon and then a chicken potpie for lunch. eat when your hungry and eat what you want.
